As I scroll through Instagram, I see some epic ootds but some of the outfits I love looking at the most are wedding gowns. I’m obsessed with tulle and lace and gorgeous bouquets, and the best way to see all those things? Wedding gowns. Duh!
Obviously, I did a lot of searching when it came time for me to choose a gown, and I ended up going to BHLDN.
Now, when I went shopping, there weren’t any BHLDN’s in Florida; so I took a quick little weekend trip to Atlanta with my mother, mother-in-law, and sister slash maid of honor.
Once in Atlanta, we headed to BHLDN. I meandered around the little room in the back, taking in all of the colors and detail of each dress. After I chose a few, I went back into the fitting room, lace and tulle and silk waiting for me.
It’s the best, that feeling you get when you know it’s the one. It’s hard to explain, but I guess it’s one of those feelings of “right-ness”.
I guess I felt like the planets aligned, like all was how it was meant to be.
The smile on my face couldn’t be erased. Nothing could stop the feeling of genuine euphoria.
The only other time I’ve felt that feeling? When Adam turned around and saw me (we did a first look) and, for those that aren’t super traditional, I totally recommend it.
It’s the most magical moment Adam and I have shared thus far.
The gown that I ended up choosing: the Penelope gown. I loved the use of both lace and tulle, and the sweetheart neckline of the bodice helped to make me look “un-flat”. Since I’m petite, the translucent straps that held up the dress was the perfect addition. And the train. Man, I felt like a princess.
I never had to pull the dress up. I didn’t have to twist or adjust it for photos.
My sister chose the Nyla dress, which is on sale for $80 right now. It was super gorgeous on her.
For those that have already worn their dress on their big day, leave a pic in the comments. I’d love to see the dress that gave you that indescribable feeling of “right-ness”.
