Well, for those that have been following along on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’m starting a fall/winter capsule. I talked a little bit about it here but now I’m disclosing all of the details. So, without further ado, here is the official fall/winter capsule wardrobe lookbook.
In total, I have 32 items (however, I’m sure I have a pair of booties coming sometime soon). I kept the color palette of blush, wine, black, grey, cream, camel, and denim – with splashes of gold. All but the two purses (which are both super old) are the pieces that I have in my closet right now. These are the pieces I’ll be wearing until mid-March or so. And soon, I’ll be showing some more fashion-based posts.
I’m excited to get started and I hope you are to! So let’s dive in!
First up: the tops. I ended up with nine tops total – ten if you’re counting the glittery bodysuit (which I’ll talk more about later). I opted to go with a lot of super minimal pieces, especially with the tees, since I’ll probably end up wearing those pieces the most. Our Florida winters won’t let me overwear the sweaters, which I’m glad for (since I only chose three).
Now, all of these items were purchased on a whim online shopping spree (that happened immediately after I came up with this idea). After searching through the clothes in my closet, I ended up putting all of them in storage – which meant that I had to start over.
Next up: the bottoms. I ended up going with a mix of pants and skirts – and a pair of leggings. Some of these items were new and some were older. Most of the pants were old – just the wine-colored jeggings are new – and soft and worn in. I just love a good pair of worn in skinnies.
Now, when it comes to the suspender skirt – I can’t find it ANYWHERE. So, I linked a floral one from Forever 21 – which is where I picked up my plain black one – that I love. The other skirts, those are brand new. Speaking of these brand new skirts – this was the first time I had ordered something from ASOS. Ok, I have a coat from there, but it’s so oversized, it didn’t matter. This was the first time I ordered something that I wanted to fit just right.
I ordered a top that was far too small (I’m not a petite xs btw) and had to send it back. Oh well, I ended up with ones that I love even more!
These next two pages are filled with the other things I either had or purchased, including outerwear, dresses shoes, that glittery bodysuit I mentioned up there, and bags. I settled on two purses (because shoes are my favorite thing) and opted for extra pairs of shoes.
Since the weather in Florida isn’t v cold, I decided to stick with a limited number of outerwear items. I also didn’t end up adding accessories in there because, once again, the weather doesn’t permit it.
When it comes to both handbags, I couldn’t find either of them; so, I searched for alternatives. And when it comes to some of the shoes, please know that I typically purchase shoes from Nordstrom Rack; therefore, I spend less than the prices on the linked websites. However, I couldn’t always find the link that I needed and, instead of sending you to a similar item, I opted to send you to the actual item.
Well, that’s it. That’s the entirety of my capsule wardrobe (unless those booties I ordered come in). To be honest, if they don’t come in soon, I’ll be worried. The other two items from that order came in last week…oh well. I’m sure they’re on their way.
So, what do you think of this 2018 fall/winter capsule lookbook?
