I am a sucker for romantic date nights. Adam and I have been using our weekly trips to Halloween Horror Nights as our date nights right now; however, we did sneak in an extra stop along the way one weekend. We decided to go head out a little early for a date night at Bar 17 Bistro, the rooftop bar at Universal Orlando’s Aventura Hotel.
ALL ABOUT BAR 17 BISTRO
Well, Bar 17, as stated earlier, is the rooftop bar and bistro at Aventura, the newest hotel that is part of the Universal Orlando Resort. This bar is known for its glorious view of all three parks (especially of the volcano at Volcano Bay), its international-inspired menu, and its custom cocktails.
The bar and bistro is open from 4 pm to either 12 am or 2 am, depending on the day of the week. The atmosphere is almost lounge-like to me. There are cozy, deep couches and chairs scattered around the glass wall, open spaces for what I’m assuming is the dance floor (for when the DJ is there), and dimly lit, romantic corners.
FOOD AND DRINK
The food and drink that Adam and I had that night was good! We arrived just in time for the sunset (which I would totally recommend doing on your date night) and had a beer while we pondered over the menu.
Bar 17 service bao, which is one of my favorite things. Obvi, I had to get the bao trio and, I’m not going to lie, the bao was delicious. I’d have to state that I liked the pork belly one the most but the others were also delicious.
I didn’t end up with one of their special cocktails but I do plan on going back, both for the food and drinks and for another, spectacular sunset. Maybe I’ll get to see the DJ next time around too.
I mean, if you’re in Orlando during Halloween Horror Nights, I’d recommend heading there after hanging out at Bar 17. I’ve written a guide all about it here. If not, there are various places to go at Universal’s CityWalk.
CityWalk is filled with restaurants (although I’m sure you don’t want to eat right after dinner!), shops, and places to grab a drink. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could go to Rising Star, the most epic karaoke bar I’ve ever been to. There are also shows, Like Blue Man Group or live music at Bob Marley – A Tribute to Freedom. On some nights, there are shows at the Hard Rock.
When it comes to visiting Bar 17, keep in mind that it’s a spectacular spot to catch the sunset. As I stated earlier, I recommend getting there in time to witness an Orlando, cotton candy sky. It’s such a spectacular event and it’s so beautiful, watching the parks light up.
For those in Orlando (and for those that have visited), have you been to Bar 17?
